Overview

This is the 6th conference, organized every three years by the Greek Association of Computational Mechanics (GRACM) since its inception in 1991. The previous ones were the 1st GRACM in Athens in 1992, the 2nd GRACM in Chania, Crete (1996), the 3rd GRACM in Volos, Thessaly (1999), GRACM02 in Patras (2002) and finally GRACM05 in Limassol, Cyprus (2005).

All these conference were attended by the majority of the Greek computational mechanics community, be it in Greece or abroad, and by prominent scientists from the EU, the US, Russia, Japan, India, China and other parts of the world, many of them in their capacity as invited speakers. Covering all aspects of computational methods (finite elements, finite differences, boundary elements, mesh reduction methods, hybrid methods) and focusing on all fields of applications stemming from mathematical physics (solids, fluids, materials, structures, coupled phenomena, etc), these conferences have generated much interest in the past. Finally, feedback from the attendants in past conferences has invariably been positive.

It should be noted that the official language of the conference, in accordance with standard GRACM policy, will be English. Scientists from outside Greece are most welcome to attend the conference and interact with the Greek computational mechanics community.
